Sorry it took so long to get back to you...I wasn't ignoring you, I promise. I just haven't made a free moment until now.
"Return to Avalon" was the name of my first horse, back when I was twelve or so. It's been my screenname ever since, and I haven't really felt the need to change it. It's also an interesting legend (which is why my horse was named that). I have an interest in all types of mythology.
Which ties in fairly neatly to Inuyasha. Actually, as far as anime goes, IY is not one of my favorites, because it never goes anywhere. Basically, they're in the same place at episode 34 as they are at episode 134 and it ends with no conclusion, which severely angers me. After the third Naraku incarnation I'd had about enough. Shippou on a pony was just a perfect icon for me.
As far as anime goes, I like Naruto (although the series is pissing me off right now since they've decided to "ad-lib" for a few months to let the manga get father ahead, and I'll say the dub just frusterates me - it's much better in Japanese). I'm a huge Bleach fan, although its' best to just watch episode 1 and then skip straight to 11 - the series doesn't get good until episode 14 (Ghostbusting samurai high school students? Sign me up!). I also like Kenshin, although I'd stop watching after the kyoto arc since the series goes way downhill after that. The OVAs are really good, though. It took me a while to get into Full Metal Alchemist, but by the end of that series I was hooked - I can't wait for the movie to come out. I like Trinity Blood, but it hasn't finished yet so we'll see...I think it's only going for 26 episodes so another 6 weeks. Vampire Princess Miyu is also pretty good, in a "don't get attached to any supporting characters ever" kind of way. And if you want to just blow your mind, Evangelion's the ticket for that. Cowboy Bebop is awesome, of course. And if you like CB, you should give Firefly a try - there are only 14 episodes, but it's like a live-action inverse cowboy bebop. I liked it. I've also heard good things about xxxholic, although I haven't seen it yet.
Well, that should answer your questions and then some! lol
Well you sure know your anime! Ever see witch-hunter robin? Bebop and Trigun are favorites but if I had to pick just one it would be FooLyCooLy!! I've only seen one episode of Naruto but have you seen the Naruto Matrix commercial spoof?!?!? It's incredible - http://www.manylemons.co.uk/The_Narutrix.shtml
Oh and I've been on the Joss Whedon train since the first season of Buffy (one of my favorite shows, evar!) I liked Firefly but I don't like his move to movies. I think television writing was his real talent and although I have not seen Serenity yet I am bracing for some disappointment from what I have read and heard. The hype is killing my passion for his work because I don't want to support a $40 million corporate one-shot that's being milked for all it's worth.
Okay I just exploded the geekness meter so I am going to go back to work and pretend it never happened ;-)

That was awesome! No, I hadn't seen that...thank you!
I watched the first few seasons of Buffy, but kinda got lost on it...I felt like the first couple of seasons were brilliant but then the plotlines (not so much the writing) really exhausted themselves.
I think he had to move Firefly to major motion because it failed so horribly (c'mon, 7 pm on Fox...a series like that...idiots).
Yah, I spend waaaay too much time on anime right now. I'm out of school, my job doesn't require oh so many hours, and I have little or less to do, so anime it is. I justify it by saying I'm "practicing" my Japanese. And it's true, I watched the last four episodes of Trinity Blood all in Japanese...that counts for something, right? Right?
I liked Trigun. I guess I don't have any other comments on it, though. I also liked Robin but I didn't see all of it; I kept falling asleep while it was on adult swim...
Naruto, like oh-so-many, doesn't get good until about episode 25, when they start the chuunin shiken. Until then it's average, average. Then it gets really good until about episode 133, and then (as I mentioned before) it sucks. For a while. Until now, actually. Hopefully they'll get back to the manga soon.

Sometimes I think Buffy can be like the Star Wars movie series where people argue you have to watch them out of order to appreciate them. To me at least, season 5 and 6 were the BEST ever, seven the worst (but I'll take the worst of Buffy over most other junk on TV anyday). I wasn't crazy about their high school days but it's good to go back and watch after you see their later years to appreciate subtle stuff.
I am not sure what I was thinking when I mentioned trigun as one of my faves, in hindsight it's not really. But it was entertaining when adult swim has it on.
I can't believe I forgot to mention "Ghost in the Shell". It's so conflicting for me because I don't care for the military violence theme but it's got an incredible female lead character. "Stand Alone Complex" has to be one of the most amazing anime tv series ever made. You can understand Japanese? That's impressive! I took a poke at it once but gave up when I realized how intense it was and needed constant years of study (ha the Aries in me, constant new projects). But I can show you where to get the "raws" of Ghost in the Shell if you want to practice. The english voices they eventually created are terrible so I just prefer subtitles anyway with the original voices.
Well thanks for the tip on Naruto, I'll try to figure out where adult swim is episode-wise on it and pick-up around 25!
ps. I never heard of Trinity Blood but I did enjoy "Blood the Last Vampire" which is another great one-shot anime movie.
pps. that clip you gave me is in one of posts from several weeks back!

oh LOL well, you're more on the ball than I am. One of my friends IMed it to me yesterday and I laughed all day. ;)
I can understand Japanese, but I'm not fluent. I have no problem with Bleach, Naruto, Ranma 1/2 - basically, stuff written with younger teenagers in mind. However, I've tried watching SAC and the Japanese is very, very technical. I felt like crap about not being able to understand it, but then my friend who is currently teaching in Japan said he showed it to some of his students and *they* couldn't understand some of the Japanese, so then I felt better. ;)
Yah...I dunno about the english Naruto. It might just be because I've seen so much of the Japanese, but half the voices just piss me off. Sasuke, in particular - he's just way to melodramatic. Kakashi is different, but his doesn't bother me because he's a badass either way. The Hokage is perfect, Sakura is ok, and the supporting cast so far hasn't bothered me too much. Naruto himself drives me INSANE, partially because they translated "dattebayo" as "Believe it!" (which, honestly, isn't that far off if you have to translate it, but really it doesn't actually mean ANYTHING so they probably could have replaced it with any catch phrase they wanted, and that one just annoys me...I mean, they could have say "for sure!" or "no doubt!" or any number of less annoying things. Ugh. It's like in Kenshin when they translated keigo as "that I am" so Kenshin walked around saying things like "I'm sure if we keep going, we'll find what we are looking for, that I am." I thought about puking.) AND the last thing that annoys me to no end is the fact that they pronounce Naruto as "Narudo" with the accent on the first syllable, and they just butcher Shikamaru. Seriously, they should have just changed the names if they weren't going to bother with pronouncing them at least a little correctly. Ugh.
I lost your e-mail but you asked me to let you know when I made an appointment at the vet for my kitty Forest. I took both her and her son today because they both had tape worms. I am going to schedule a dental for her now to get most of her teeth removed since they are so infected. I'm using Shores Animal Hospital on 13th ...they are really great and charge almost half of what my old vet did.
anyway, e-mail me for more info if you would like
